Recently, I photographed a young family during morning chores.
The kids carried buckets that were mini sized just for them, because including them is more important than peak efficiency.
Mom and Dad fixed mitts, found toques thrown on the floor, waited for tiny steps as they followed along and showed the best place to hold the gate so it wasn't so heavy.
Mom and Dad were patient while they exhausted the routine another time.
It wasn’t glamorous.
Even better, it was real.

When people hear “family photos,” it's possible they feel stress.
We want to go after the matching outfits, the ones that are in style and the colours that best match the season. We are worried the kids won't smile, or listen. We aren't sure when we can gather every one together.
But a lifestyle session isn’t about performing.
It’s about participating.
It’s about doing what you would already be doing, with intention.
The chores must be done, so let's capture the muddy boots and rosy cheeks.
Heck while we are at it, lets capture the work ethic you are building in your kids.
You don’t need to prepare for a lifestyle session.
You just need to show up, and also ask me to show up.
A lifestyle session isn’t something extra to plan.
It doesn’t require a perfectly clean house.
Or coordinated neutrals or children who sit still.
It simply invites you to slow down for an hour and be present in what you already love.
Have you ever had a memory from your childhood that wouldn't be except that there is a photo to go along with it.
Don't be fooled, a regular session, where we plan out your outfits, time of day and location certainly has its place. I love doing those sessions as well. A lifestyle session is simply here to remind us that photos don't have to be that way if we don't want them to be. We can get memories and photos even in our busy seasons of life, ESPECIALLY in our busy seasons of life. These are the times that pass by in a blur and we look back and wonder what just happened. We turned around and our baby is off to Kindergarten. A life style session can be your way of slowing down and taking intentional time with your loved ones, doing the things you love with them.
They are the solution to "I'm busy, but still want to capture this time"
Imagine going through these photos in your photo album in 20 years time, when those babies are all grown up.
Oh the stories we could tell.
Curious about a lifestyle Session?
Let's get the easy ball rolling.
