Picking outfits is important to your shoot, but you don't want it to be all consuming.  Let's make this clear and to the point, because I know you have other priorities. I  want getting your photos done to be enjoyable.  Let's take the stress out of it now.  

I've selected three common stores and I'm going to show you my tops picks from each.  I've gone into great detail on how to pick outfits in a guide, so if you aren't a huge fan of the choices I've made that's ok, you can get the guide and work on making your own choices.  We all have our own taste and vision and I encourage you to go with yours, sometimes a little inspiration gets the ideas flowing in the right direction.

I have picked the colour scheme here that will work will with the season.  This is usually the first and easiest thing to decide.  Start simple.  Once the colours have been picked, you want to have items that are in the same colours but not all the same.  Putting the same colour high and low on people will help break up the colour, small patterns create visual interest within over taking the subject, same colour different textures creates differences while still working together.  Three simple tips that help create the perfect outfit package.

OLD NAVY

With the second option, I've created something that would appeal to those who love to dress up for their Holiday Session. A little extra razzle dazzle for the holidays seems fitting doesn't it.  You'll notice how picking three colours to stay in is doable and still has a cohesive look.  Layering is another tip for choosing outfits that add visual depth and appeal.  Keep that in your back pocket for the next time you are creating a look.

JOE FRESH

Last but not least: those looking for something a little off the beaten path, something that's not your classic holiday colours, but still is cozy and on trend.  Earthy and natural is the vibe here and I think we can all agree that works no matter what year it is.  Could you see yourself in something like this?  Feeling this but you are wondering where the colour is? The beauty here is that you can add pops of red or green under the jackets.
